Bulbous White-ware Ewer with Floral Decoration

Tran Dynasty 13th - 14th c., Vietnam

Height: 18 cm

A stoneware ewer with bulbous body on a straight foot rim. An arched spout with carved design at its base, and curled handle surmount the shoulder.  A flared neck ends in a cupped mouth rim with fitted disk lid of beveled form. The entire piece is covered in a layer of slip before applying loosely drawn lotus depictions on the front and back of the body. The underfoot is covered in a chocolate brown glaze.
