Small Qingbai Jar with Basket-weave Pattern


Southern Song Dynasty, 1127-1279 AD, China

Height:11 cm

A small porcelaineous stoneware jar with  white clay body and translucent pale blue glaze.  The baluster form body has a straight collar foot and a tall neck with flared mouth-rim. There are two loop handles flanking the neck with a band of carved petals surrounding the join to the body.  The body is decorated with a basket-weave cross hatch pattern.
