Longquan Guan Brushwasher

Southern Song - Yuan Dynasty 13th - 14th c. China

Diameter: 11.8 cm

A small “Longquan Guan” celadon brushwaster of shallow bowl form with flattened mouth rim.  The piece is covered down to its foot with a crackled minty blue-green glaze.  The stoneware body revealed at the foot rim is intentionally stained in a dark gray to resemble “Guan-Yao” official wares produced in Hangzhou for the court.  Provenance:
