

Large Cizhou Bowl with Persimmon Streaks

A large Cizhou-type bowl with buff stoneware body of deep rounded form. The interior is glazed in a blackish brown glaze with persimmon streaks arranged in diagonal orientation in three bands, two closer to the rim and one surrounding the bottom center. The streaks vary in intensity of color from vibrant russet color to a metallic grayish color. The mouth-rim is finished in a similarly vibrant russet color. The exterior walls are dipped in blackish brown glaze, with the bottom half showing more red in color than the top. One section left unglazed, revealing the buff clay body. The piece sits on a thickly potted foot-rim and underfoot, left unglazed.
